Our diet should consist of the most nutrient foods (nutrient-dense) as possible for our optimal health, nutrition and energy.  Below is a list of my favorite most nutrient foods.  The first thing to remember is to;

 JUST THINK CLEAN!

MY FAVORITE GOOD CARBOHYDRATES:

SIMPLE CARBS (quick energy source)

  • APPLES-FUJI
  • BANANAS
  • BLUEBERRIES
  • CANTALOUPE
  • ORANGES
  • PEACHES
  • PEARS
  • RAISINS
  • STRAWBERRIES

COMPLEX CARBS (gradually released energy source)

  • ASPARAGUS
  • BEANS (BLACK,RED…)
  • BROCCOLI
  • BRUSSEL SPROUTS
  • CARROTS
  • CAULIFLOWER
  • CORN
  • EGGPLANT
  • MUSHROOMS
  • PEAS
  • PEPPERS (RED,GREEN,YELLOW…)
  • RED POTATOES
  • SPINACH
  • SWEET POTATOES
  • TOMATOES

(these digest slowly)

  • RICE: BROWN/WHITE
  • WHOLE WHEAT PASTAS
  • WHOLE WHEAT WRAPS
  • OATMEAL

MY FAVORITE GOOD PROTEIN:

  • FRESH FISH
  • FRESH POULTRY (no skin)
  • FRESH LEAN MEAT (90% lean)
  • WHOLE EGGS / EGG WHITES
  • FAT FREE GREEK YOGURT

MY FAVORITE GOOD FAT:

Provides essential fatty acids, keeps our skin soft, delivers fat-soluble vitamins, and are a great source of energizing fuel.  Just remember good or bad, FAT is calorie-dense!  There are 9 calories per gram of fat opposed to 4 calories per gram of carbohydrates and proteins and that adds up quick.  So know your HEALTHY fats and how much you are consuming.

  • SUNFLOWER SEEDS

  • SUGAR FREE ALMOND MILK
  • BEANS
  • PLAIN SWEET POTATOES

USE IN MODERATION:

  • GRAIN PRODUCTS
  • NUTS
  • DAIRY
  • ADDED FAT
  • ANIMAL FAT
  • DRIED FRUIT

GET CREATIVE:

  •  MAKE YOUR OWN SALAD DRESSINGS
  • TRY DIFFERENT SPICES
  • BBQ ALL YEAR ROUND (It’s not just for summer)
